Scale chart generator

The trainer asks for one note. This page shows every note of a scale through the fifteenth fret, roots in one color and the other tones in another. Major is the usual seven. Natural minor is the relative collection. Pentatonics drop the half steps. Blues adds the flat fifth to the minor pentatonic. Dorian, Mixolydian and harmonic minor are there because songs ask for them and a major diagram would lie.

Reading the neck

Low E is at the bottom, nut at the left, same as the trainer. A dot on the twelfth fret is the octave of the open string, so a root on the open A shows again at the twelfth fret of the A string. The PDF prints each string as a row of note names and dots, which is easier to read on paper than a tiny neck. Spellings follow the root: F and flat roots lean flat, the rest lean sharp, unless you force the toggle.

Not a lick

The chart does not tell you a fingering pattern or a box number. It tells you which frets belong. If you want a chord inside the scale, the finder will build it. If you want the sound of the root in your ear first, the tone generator will hold it.

Questions

Does it include the open strings?
Yes. Fret 0 is on the chart. A note that is not in the scale is a dot, not a name, in the PDF row.
Which tuning?
Standard only. The columns would lie in DADGAD.
